چکیده

A Neumann problem in the strip for the Fitzhugh Nagumo system is considered. The transformation in a non linear integral equation permits to deduce a priori estimates for the solution. A complete asymptotic analysis shows that for large t the effects of the initial data vanish while the effects of boundary disturbances φ1(t), φ2(t) depend on the properties of the data. When φ1, φ2 are convergent for large t , the solution is everywhere bounded; when φ̇i ∈ L1(0,∞)(i = 1, 2) too, the effects are vanishing.

Boundary-induced spatiotemporal complex patterns in excitable systems.

We show that inhomogeneous boundary conditions (BCs) in a distributed reaction-diffusion excitable system are a natural source of permanent perturbations that can induce wave trains, which can be characterized as mixed-mode temporal oscillations and, when a parameter is varied, admit a period-adding bifurcation. To that end we analyze: a pair of coupled excitable and oscillatory cells, a distri...

A Dissipative Integral Sliding Mode Control Redesign Method

This paper develops a new method of integral sliding mode control redesign for a class of perturbed nonlinear dissipative switched systems by modifying the dissipativity-based control law that was designed for the unperturbed systems. The nominal model is considered affine with matched and unmatched perturbations. The redesigned control law includes an integral sliding-based control signal such...

Freezing in a Finite Slab Using Extensive Perturbation Expansions Method

In this paper Mathematica is used to solve the moving boundary problem of freezing in a finite slab for higher order perturbations. Mathematica is a new system which makes it possible to do algebra with computer. More specifically, it enables researchers to find the location of the ice at any time for as high order of perturbation as one whishes. Using of Mathematica and outer solution and an i...

The Asymptotic Form of Eigenvalues for a Class of Sturm-Liouville Problem with One Simple Turning Point

The purpose of this paper is to study the higher order asymptotic distributions of the eigenvalues associated with a class of Sturm-Liouville problem with equation of the form w??=(?2f(x)?R(x)) (1), on [a,b, where ? is a real parameter and f(x) is a real valued function in C2(a,b which has a single zero (so called turning point) at point 0x=x and R(x) is a continuously differentiable function. ...

Pulse Propagation in Discrete Systems of Coupled Excitable Cells

Propagation of pulses in myelinated fibers may be described by appropriate solutions of spatially discrete FitzHugh-Nagumo systems. In these systems, propagation failure may occur if either the coupling between nodes is not strong enough or the recovery is too fast. We give an asymptotic construction of pulses for spatially discrete FitzHugh-Nagumo systems which agrees well with numerical simul...
